Where controlling the release of a drug makes sense.
Our specialty is understanding when and where an ingredient is absorbed and how we can increase its efficacy by manipulating its release in the body. However in many cases it is not necessary to slow or target the release of a drug. In fact some therapy’s, like pain relief drugs, need to be supplied to the body as quickly as possible. Analyzing and understanding exactly how an ingredient is absorbed and utilized in the body can help determine if manipulating release can be beneficial. Liniex Technologies specializes in this understanding and can help you determine if controlling release makes sense for your product.
Liniex’s expertise lies in understanding your ingredient, it’s potential for greater absorption and efficacy and then manipulating release through our patented release and tableting technologies.
THREE RELEASE TECHNOLOGY OPTIONS
Liniex offers the ULTIMATE in release versatility.
Drugs can differ in the rate and time a body can digest and utilize it. Liniex controls three release technologies that offer the ultimate in formulation versatility. No matter the complexity of absorption with your drug, Liniex has release and tablet options that give you incredible control of when and where your drug is delivered. Our patented release technology’s can extend therapeutic drug effects, increase efficacy, increase safety and offer product differentiation and protection.
RATE OF PASSAGE ASSUMPTIONS
Rate of passage or the term in which an ingredient takes to travel through the digestive tract, can vary between patients. For demonstration purposes the charts contained within this website assume total digestive time from ingestion to elimination is 24-Hours.
TIME RELEASE TECHNOLOGY
Liniex Time Release is a technology that is incorporated in the blending process combined with manipulating tableting pressure and point of press. This technology delivers a small burst of ingredients immediately upon ingestion followed by a consistent releasing dose every hour over a specific period of time. This is an excellent release option for standard/mono tablet formulations where a therapy needs an initial burst of ingredients followed by a consistent supply of ingredients over a specific period of time. Release of ingredients with this technology can be extended from 4 hours to 24 hours. This technology can be used in our mono, bi and tri layer tablets. Below is an example of a release profile achieved with Liniex Time Release:
CONTROLLED RELEASE TECHNOLOGY
Liniex Controlled Release is similar to our Time Release technology but no immediate burst is achieved upon initial ingestion. Instead Liniex Controlled Release delivers a consistent amount of ingredients every hour including first hour of ingestion. This is a great option for therapies needing exact levels of ingredients release every hour and no burst upon ingestion. Release of ingredients with this technology can be extended from 4 hours to 24 hours. This technology can be used in our mono, bi and tri-layer tablets. Below is an example of a release profile achieved with Liniex Controlled Release:
TARGETED RELEASE TECHNOLOGY
Liniex Target Release is a technology that can be manipulated to release ingredients in consistent amounts in a specific area of the digestive tract. This technology releases a consistent amount of ingredients and contains no burst. Typically the release time aligns with the rate of passage associated with that particular part of the digestive tract being targeted. Release of ingredients with this technology can be extended from 4 hours to 24 hours. This technology can be used in our mono, bi and tri layer tablets. Below is an example of a release profile achieved with Liniex Target Release:
LINIEX RELEASE TECHNOLOGIES
Costing – unlike multi-step coating processes other release technologies require, Liniex Time Release uses a combination of GRAS Certified/food grade ingredients and tablet pressure to achieve our release rates. These ingredients are very economically to include in any formulation and widely available. It is the combination and manipulation of these ingredients with tableting pressure that deliver ingredient in targeted amounts and release times. Production times are usually 6-8 weeks once complete formulation and pilot batch test runs are complete.
Increased Safety & Reducing Side Effects – releasing a drug more effectively can potentially increase safety and reduce side effects by limiting when and where the body absorbs a drug. For instance, a slow consistent release of an ingredient may reduce the challenges a body may have compared to the body dealing with a large amount of a drug immediately released. One of Liniex Technologies specialties is making drugs more bioavailable and reducing the amount of drug needed to provide therapeutic results. Of course drugs differ so a precise understanding needs to be conducted to understand if this would be possible with your drug.
Increased Efficacy – in some cases the ability to release ingredients slowly and in consistent amounts or target areas of digestion can enable the body to better utilize a drug. This may result in lower levels of active ingredients that can lead to decreased adverse reactions/increased safety. Liniex time-release technologies are extremely cost effective at the production level and decreasing the amount of an expensive ingredient could result in large savings for both the patient and company.
More than just consistently releasing ingredients:
- Flexibility in release time – 4, 6, 8, 12, 24 hours
- Flexibility in release rates – amount of ingredients released per hour or per layer
- Flexibility in where ingredients are released – targeted digestive tract release allows for delivery of ingredients in stomach, small intestine, and large intestine or in combinations of the three.
